On February 23, 2026, Jasmine performed an assortment of engaging Chinese dances at the Tallgrass Senior Home. The program featured five beautifully choreographed traditional dances, each showcasing cultural storytelling and graceful movement that delighted the audience.
In this program, Daphne and Alice performed a multitude of duet dances: 九儿 (Jiu Er), 红油平 (The Red Umbrellas of Youth), and 吉祥吉祥 (Blessings and Good Fortune). Together, these dances used expressive movements, meaningful props, and cultural symbolism to tell stories of freedom, youth, hope, and good fortune. Daphne and Alice were also able to successfully transform these originally group dances into duet performances, which shows their strong teamwork as dancers. They performed exceptionally, and the audience seemed to enjoy them as well.

灵 - Dancing Peacock
In a traditional Chinese peacock dance, Katie performed 灵 (Dancing Peacock). The dance imitates the graceful movements of a peacock using flowing arm motions and delicate hand gestures. It combines Chinese classical dance with Dai ethnic dance styles to express elegance, beauty, and the spirit of the peacock.
汉乐筁 - Han Dynasty Flute Dance
Sarah performed a piece called 汉乐筁 (Han Dynasty Flute Dance) which is a Chinese classical dance inspired by the music and court culture of the Han Dynasty. In the performance, Sarah used a flute as a prop, combining graceful movements with the instrument to reflect the elegance and musical traditions of ancient Han court culture.

Qiuqiu recalled, "Many seniors happily congratulated all the dancers and complimented the beautiful and elegant dances. They said they really enjoyed the performances and greatly appreciated the Jasmine dancers coming out to share the Chinese culture and dances with them. Some said that they were amazed by the great performances, which were way better than they expected."

Tallgrass Creek Senior Home Performance
Overall, on behalf of Jasmine, we are so grateful for yet another volunteer opportunity. We sincerely hope that this performance brought joy and entertainment to the residents and helped brighten their day. It was truly meaningful to share the culture of Chinese dance through performances and spend time with the community. We look forward to participating in more events like this in the future. Thank you Tallgrass Creek Senior Living Community for this opportunity!
