On April 10, 2026, Jasmine’s youth dancers brought great energy and cultural pride to the Global Cultural Festival at Pembroke Hill School. Their performance featured a beautifully choreographed traditional Chinese dance that blended storytelling and expressive movement. The dancers captivated the audience and offered a glimpse into Chinese heritage through art and performance.
Led by Chanel Han, eight girls performed "People by the Shea". This piece combines traditional Chinese dance with elements of jazz and hip-hop. As if traveling along the seaside. they transitioned between flowing movements and pauses to create a balanced blend of motion and stillness.

Victoria Han performed a solo dance named "Playful Fox" which features a mix of slow and quick movements that captured the playfulness of a fox. This dance incorporated a variety of acrobatic movements that captured the audiences attention.

Noah Schleicher, a teacher at PHS, commented after the event: "The Global Cultural Event at PHS felt like one of the most culturally immersive events I had been to since I moved to KC years ago. Some of the highlights included the performances from China, Thailand, and Japan. Among them, the Jasmine dancers stood out with their graceful movements and clear dedication, leaving a strong impression on the audience. Having now been to the event once, I can confidently say I am excited for years to come and plan on attending each time."

Jasmine is grateful for the opportunity to share our culture at the Global Cultural Festival at Pembroke Hill School. Jasmine dancers are thankful for the opportunity which allows them to connect with others and share the joy of cultural expression through dance. Events like this remind us how powerful performance can be in bringing people together and building respect for diverse traditions.
