Dancing into the New Year- A Recap of Jasmine Performance at KCCAA Lunar New Year Gala

On the evening of February 1, 2026, KCCAA annual Lunar New Year Gala was held at JCCC in celebration of the Year of the Horse. Continuing its long-standing tradition of supporting KCCAA’s most important cultural event, Jasmine Chinese Dance Group once again contributed to the gala by presenting four dance performances, featuring dancers from different age groups and showcasing a variety of styles. Interwoven throughout the evening’s program, these performances added vibrant color and artistic energy to the festive stage.

This year again, dancers ranging from young children to adults participated, presenting four distinctive pieces.

The youngest group, ages 5 to 8, performed the lively and cheerful dance “Galloping Ponies.” Blending dynamic elements of Mongolian folk dance with playful choreography, the young dancers brought the spirited image of galloping little horses to life. Their energetic performance captured a sense of freedom and vitality, perfectly echoing the joyful spirit of the Year of the Horse.

Dancers aged 9 to 11 presented “People by the Shore,” a piece that blends Chinese dance with jazz and hip-hop influences. Moving as if along a seaside landscape, the dancers shifted between light, flowing motions and moments of quiet depth, creating a unique harmony between movement and stillness.

The 12 to 18 age group performed the modern classical dance “Red Umbrellas Under Youth.” With red oil-paper umbrellas unfolding across the stage, the piece seemed to open a window into an era filled with both hope and reflection. Through expressive movement and emotional depth, the dancers conveyed the brightness and power of youth.

The adult group presented the modern classical dance “Whispers of Water and Silk.” Graceful movements and flowing silk created a poetic stage image reminiscent of rippling water and drifting silk. With calm elegance and refined expression, the dancers brought a sense of lyrical beauty and serenity to the evening.
