Performance Review – Garden Terrace at Overland Park | May 15, 2025

On May 15, 2025, residents of Garden Terrace at Overland Park were treated to a heartfelt and engaging dance performance by a group of Jasmine dancers. The program featured four beautifully choreographed pieces performed by Tiffany Han, Victoria Han, and Jinsong Zhang, each one offering a unique narrative and emotional tone.
The afternoon began with Like a Dream, a whimsical and poetic piece brought to life by Tiffany Han. Through graceful and expressive movement, Tiffany portrayed a playful young girl who, lost among blooming lotuses, dreams she becomes a lotus fairy. With light steps and radiant charm, she danced with flowers, birds, and rain, capturing the childlike wonder of the dreamscape.
Next came Learning to Fly, performed by Victoria Han, a dance that beautifully told the story of perseverance and growth. As a young girl learning something new, Victoria portrayed moments of struggle, doubt, and frustration with vulnerability and honesty, but also with unwavering determination. Her expressive performance conveyed an inspiring message: every fall is a step toward soaring.
Jinsong Zhang followed with My JiuZhai, a vibrant Tibetan-style dance inspired by the breathtaking landscape and rich traditions of Jiuzhaigou. With flowing sleeves, vivid gestures, and joyful rhythm, Jinsong transported the audience to the colorful mountains and crystal waters of Tibet.
The program concluded on a lively and playful note with Naughty, a cheeky solo danced once again by Tiffany Han. Embodying a spirited young lady who enjoys harmless mischief, Tiffany delivered the piece with flair and charm. Her expressive performance, full of sass, sweetness, and confidence, brought laughter and delight to the room, ending the afternoon with light-hearted joy.
A Gift of Dance and Connection More than a performance, this event served as a touching act of community service. Sharing the art of dance with the senior residents at Garden Terrace created a moment of warmth, connection, and joy across generations. The dancers' dedication and artistry were met with smiles, applause, and appreciation from the audience, reminding us all of the healing and unifying power of the performing arts.
